Fine stuff, as usual, Sara, but, as for myself, I wouldn’t be all that upset if the Supreme Court were to reverse the Dred Scott decision. Oh, true, I have a few fugitive slaves out there who’ve made it all the way to Free Soil territory by following a trail of Loggins and Messina ticket stubs, and, by golly, I’d like to get them back before the winter rutabaga season starts in. But you know what they say: if you really love something, set it free, and if it loves you, it’ll come back to you. If it doesn’t, hire a bounty hunter to follow it all the way to Ohio and have it lugged back to Alabama on a tramp steamer.
