At the level of the quantum field, the ground of all being, the exact same object can be observed in multiple different places at the exact same time. This, plus a lot of advanced mathematics and a generous dusting of Schrödinger’s cat, causes many to posit that there are literally different timelines occurring or possible at any given point. And those are just the scientists.
The Kingdom of Woo is all over it too (ooh, that scans well, “the Kingdom of Woo is all over it too. They see all kinds of timelines for me and for you.”) And in between science and woo are those marvelous nonspeakers featured in the megahit podcast The Telepathy Tapes (you can read my take on The Telepathy Tapes and the Nature of Consciousness here). Those amazing highly telepathic autistic children are clear that alternate timelines exist and that to switch from one timeline to another, we have only to change our consciousness of Reality. That’s basically what Science of Mind teaches (in which I have a degree, so you’re in good hands).
OK, Sara, what do you mean by alternate timelines? Here’s an example, last week I wrote about bad habits and addictions. In the timeline I’m currently perceiving, I treated my “bad habit” as an addiction, recovered one day at a time, and am now 80 to 90 pounds lighter than I was at one time. I exercise every day, wear size 10 clothing, and climb stairs with ease. But there are multiple alternate timelines where I continued to treat it as a bad habit. In those timelines, depending on where I am in the cycle of yo-yo dieting I used to live, it could be that I’m writing this column downstairs because I can’t climb stairs anymore. It could be that I’m not writing this column because I have so much shame and I lack the self-confidence to do so. It could be that I’ve gone heavily (pun intended) into debt to pay for my weight loss injections. It could be that I’ve died of a heart attack or taken my own life, both of which have happened to overweight humans who share my genetic code.
Ever since I heard these telepathic nonspeakers swear there are alternate realities, I keep asking myself what I am doing to stay on the timeline: with the Constitutional fabric of the American Democracy under the ultimate stress test, and the world threatened by a new set of wars.
This is not the timeline I want. This is not the timeline I choose to experience from the jukebox of reality. I choose a new timeline for me and for everyone who wants it. That’s why I’ve joined my colleague, Rev. Peggy Tillery, in a spiritual action she calls Pause for Peace. In it, you’re invited to join a daily Pause for Peace at noon wherever you are—not on Zoom, not on any electronic medium.
Just

For
Peace
This grassroots effort brings people together to pray, meditate, or envision peace—creating a continuous wave of peace around the world. Our shared intention is to help bring lasting peace to Earth within our lifetimes.

Here’s my prayer for peace:
I lean into the unlimited power of the One who knows all and has all power and is living out its perfect life as me and as everything in the known and the unknown world.
With the power of my Spirit, operating via my mind, I know and see a world that works for everyone. One where every adult and child goes to bed with a full belly, a full heart, and a lively mind. Where each has a roof over their heads, clothes on their back, and is a contribution to the collective.
I destroy and uncreate all the thoughts, beliefs, opinions, and conclusions that have ever led me, or anyone else who wants a helping of this Spiritual Mind Treatment, to believe in the current reality, to believe in poverty, war, greed, and hatred.
The Truth of reality is that Love is all there is. Love is all there is. Love is all there is. So I collapse consciousness into that reality. I choose THAT timeline, not this one. And I experience it now.
Amen.
Reflection Questions:
- What does the timeline you appear to have chosen now look like?
- What timeline do you wish you had chosen?
- What would it take to hop from one timeline to the other?
- Hint: affirmative prayer is a great portal to another timeline.
