After two young Black lawmakers were expelled (and then reinstalled by local voters) by the Tennessee legislature for protesting for gun control, voters all over Tennessee are mobilizing to expand voter registration and engagement in elections. This gorgeous song, Tennessee Rise by The Tennessee Freedom Riders, bolsters the effort.
Since I believe that everything that appears “out there” is a reflection of my consciousness “in here,” it’s worth asking
- where have we been expelling ourselves from full engagement in life because we consider it unacceptable for us to stand up for what we believe?
- how can we allow our own freedom to rise? (hint: listening to this song helps me with that!)
Warning, the song is so good you will cry.
